As an introvert, setting aside some “me time” is very important thing to me. I need some alone time, and I don’t feel guilty about it because I believe it’s important for my kids need to see me making myself a priority. For me, keeping a strict bedtime (especially during the week) is the most important thing. For one, kids need a lot of sleep in order to function well at school/daycare the next day. Second, once the kids go to bed, it’s the only real “me time” I get during the day or week.
“Me time” is an essential part of my routine. Whether it’s taking a relaxing bath or going to yoga a couple of times a week, it’s good for my mental health. Having kids is hard, and with everything that goes on in our day-to-day lives, it’s easy to forget the “me” outside of being a mommy. Therefore I make it a point to treat myself whenever I can.
